Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or place entered into a search tool is sent directly to the outside company that operates that tool. The provider processes the request and supplies the results. Edmonson County Criminal History does not retain or record those search terms on its own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you contact us by email, we retain the message as needed to respond. We keep that correspondence within our organization unless disclosure is required by a valid legal obligation.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive basic technical details whenever a visitor loads a page:
- The date and time of each page view
- The pages viewed and the time spent on them
- Your device type and operating system
- Your browser type and version
- The referring website, when one is available
- The Internet Protocol address assigned to the device
Cookies and Analytics
This website uses cookies, which are small files placed on a device, to help measure traffic and understand how visitors move through the pages. Analytics providers combine that usage information for reporting. You may block cookies through your browser settings, although doing so can cause some site features to work differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Sending a search request to the appropriate outside provider
- Maintaining the website and its loading performance
- Diagnosing and correcting technical problems
- Understanding which pages are useful and which need improvement
- Displaying advertisements that may reflect your interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
Edmonson County Criminal History does not maintain, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal-record data. The site provides general directions for finding records held by Edmonson County offices, local criminal courts, the Kentucky State Police (KSP) Criminal Identification and Records Branch, and the Kentucky State Police Sex Offender Registry. It is not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor data is not compiled into consumer reports or profiles about other people.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies power the search boxes displayed here. Information submitted through a search box is governed by that company's privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention and disclosure practices. Review those terms before sending a query.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to Edmonson County offices, Kentucky court services, state agencies, legal-aid resources, or outside search providers. Once you follow an external link, the destination's privacy policy controls. Read that policy before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may also measure activity across websites to select targeted ads. That tracking takes place through the provider's systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
We do not sell personal information. Limited data may be available to:
- Analytics providers that measure traffic and site performance
- Search providers that process a query you submit
- Advertising networks that serve ads on these pages
- Government or law-enforcement authorities acting under a valid legal order
How We Protect Your Data
We use customary security measures to protect collected information. No internet-connected system is completely secure, however, so we cannot guarantee that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. Contact us if you believe a minor submitted personal data so that it can be removed promptly.
Your Data Rights
Rights may vary by residence and by whether a law applies to a particular business or data use. Kentucky consumer and privacy protections include the Kentucky Consumer Data Protection Act, KRS 367.3611 through 367.3629. The Kentucky Open Records Act, KRS 61.870 through 61.884, governs qualifying records held by public agencies, subject to exemptions in KRS 61.878; it does not turn this private website into a public records custodian. Where applicable, you may:
- Request correction of inaccurate personal information
- Ask for access to personal information kept about you
- Opt out of certain processing when the law provides that choice
- Request deletion of covered personal information
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised from time to time. Any revision will appear on this page with a new effective date, so review it periodically for changes to our data practices.
